Your CPAP machine’s humidifier does already add humidification to the air. However, the air still needs to travel 6-10 feet through a tube. In that distance the air could cool down and potentially leave the humidifier ineffective. In addition to this, a heated tube also prevents “rainout”. Rainout occurs when a standard tube is used and condensation builds up inside and out the tube. This condensation can accumulate and leak into your mask or onto your pillow.
