Cleaning Guidelines

Supplies

  • MASK / NASAL PILLOWS / TUBING / WATER CHAMBER: Daily cleaning is recommended. Use warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let air-dry. As needed, the supplies may be disinfected by soaking for 30 minutes in a 1-part vinegar to 3-parts water solution. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove vinegar odor.

  • Weekly cleaning of the headgear is recommended. To maximize the life of your headgear, hand wash with mild detergent or wash using the gentle cycle only. Never use bleach and do not machine dry.

  • DO NOT USE ANTIBACTERIAL SOAPS, as they can interact with the plastics in the equipment, often causing them to break down.

PAP Machine (as needed)

  • Unplug the unit before cleaning it. Never immerse the unit in water.

  • Periodically clean the unit with a clean, damp cloth to remove dust/dirt. Let air dry.

  • Ensure the unit is thoroughly dry before plugging it in.

Do's and Don'ts

  • Don't use alcohol-based products to clean your mask, because it can cause the materials to become hard and brittle.

  • Do follow the recommended cleaning schedule.

  • Don't use any caustic or household cleaning solutions such as bleach on your CPAP equipment.

  • Do change your disposable filter frequently.

  • Don't put headgear in the washer or dryer.
