1. Make an appointment with your doctor. If your doctor is not familiar with sleep apnea, you may need to see a specialist for a proper diagnosis. Find a physician who is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine.
2. Your doctor will properly diagnose you and prescribe a polysomnography (sleep study) to be done. Click here to find an accredited sleep lab in your area. (Note: not all sleep centers are accredited, so this is not a complete list).
3. Based on the initial sleep study, your doctor may prescribe a titration sleep study to further assess your condition.
4. If a CPAP or Bilevel machine is needed, your doctor will write a prescription for this equipment.
5. If your doctor has prescribed this treatment, you will then have a choice of which home medical equipment company to use. If you choose Nationwide Medical, Inc., we will have a technician come to your home and provide your initial set-up of equipment. Once you have your equipment we will put you on a customized follow-up care program which includes resupply of all needed equipment.
6. Compliance is key…if you have difficulty using the prescribed equipment, your sleep will continue to be interrupted. By using the CPAP/Bilevel, you are giving yourself the necessary rest your body requires. Our goal is to provide you with the care you need to ensure you continue to use your therapy and maintain the healthy lifestyle you deserve.
